Land of Eem Session #2

Bodie: Puffcap the Dungeoneer (Mushrum)
Thom: Twick the Rascal (Imp)
Kah Wai: Sir Rattle the Knight-Errant (Skeleton)
Pyke: Glorp the Loyal Chum (Gelatinous Goo)

Our adventurers were standing on the edge of the precipice. Good ol' altruistic Twick (lol) flew across the void to establish a failsafe rope for the existing failsafe rope. Ya know, just in case. The vibrations of the crystal support were immense and the little guy held on with all his might to steady it as his comrades came across, 1 by 1, and 2 by 1. Sir Rattle used his harness, and a rib, to slide over with ease. Glorp, being weighed down with armor, decided to shed it and instead Puffcap dawned Glorp. The Gelatinous Goo, shall we say, Glorped on to Puffcap by holding on (encasing). With Glorp up to his frills and a hardhat on, they went speedily across. *Good to note that Glorp can use his slimy goo as a lubricant.

Greeted on the other side was an anxious Jonathon, Glorp's good friend who had been held hostage by King Klik. He warned them that the giant rat was not only angry but now very anxious by the explosion. Just a moment later the mighty king came thundering behind them. Twick, feeling a strong desire to "get the hell out of there" vanished in plain sight. Klik was manic and accused the trio of being members of SPL. Puffcap was rather offended by the accusation, being once an employee of SPL but quit because of the autonomous fungal betrayal (AFG shall it be known henceforward). He showed Klik his letter of resignation but Klik can't read. Glorp smoothed things out a bit with his soothing vibrations. Twick, hiding behind a crystal, threw some magical cheese he got from Wally at the beast. It hit him plunk on the nose and his eyes went from bloodshot to dilated. He inhaled the cheese without a second thought. His fur was now less on edge but his eyes were now fully dilated and he needed MOAR.

Klik explained why he and his army were down there; Wally fed him and his fellow Kilorat brethren magical cheese to plump them up as a Weorg meat substitute. The magical cheese not only made them larger but also made them intelligent (for rat standards). Klik discovered the caves under the basement and grew his army. Armed with the deed, and the taste of the cheese on his tongue, he was ready to storm the restaurant. The crew sensed the inevitable dread of the poor restaurant patrons. They tried to buy themselves time but only angered Klik more. They managed to convince Klik to give them 10 rat minutes to bring Wally to him. Klik showed them the rat tunnels that will take them directly to the basement entrance. Puffcap ordered Dave, his dungeoneering intern standing on the other side of the void, to distract Klik as much as possible. Dave's been working on his standup routine on unions so he gave it a shot. He also sneakily puts on Glorp's discarded armor.

The tunnels were dark and gross. Good thing there were lanterns among the collective inventory, otherwise they'd incur the Frightened condition. We used a travel turn to determine the outcome of traveling through the tunnels. Puffcap rolled Wilderness and got a 13! He found something interesting, so we rolled on the random discovery in The Used T'be Forest table and got carnival equipment. Krogland isn't far away — the rats must have done some looting. Puffcap says he found a bottle of fire breathers vodka. Nice.

The crew tried to convince Wally to follow them into the basement. He wasn't having it and wanted the deed. They worked him some more and eventually agreed but took his burly cook bodyguard with him. There was a showdown in the basement and the rats won. Twick took a little damage but everyone else was unscathed. The restaurant cleared out from the commotion. Wally was taken captive by Klik and declared he was the new owner and that he was renaming it to King Klik's Waffles and Manflesh. Puffcap didn't like the sound of that and rolled lore to establish vegetarianism is on the rise. He got a failure with a plus. Meat is definitely on the rise in the Mucklands but he convinced Klik otherwise.

So, come one, come all, to the new restaurant in town: King Klik's Waffles and Mushrums!
